The National Agency for Dams and Transfer (ANBT) is an administrative public institution of a technical vocation, endowed with the civil personality and the financial autonomy. It was created by the decree n° 85-163 of the 11th June 1985. The agency is placed under the Ministry of Hydraulics supervision, and its head office is based in Algiers.

MISSIONS:
 The missions of the agency are:

1. To promote the technical and the technological studies;

2. To ensure the carrying out of the planned investments programmes;

3. To look after the preservation and the protection of the large exploiting dams;

4. To bring the support and the assistance to the concerned organisms.

    In the field of the studies of mobilization works and water resources transfer, the agency is assigned: 

1. To elaborate or to make elaborate the draft studies and the execution plans, and to carry out all the analyses and prospectings competing for;

2. To develop the means of conception and studies in order to master the techniques related to its objective.

    In the field of works and building the mobilization plans and water resources transfer, the agency is in charge of exercising the prerogatives and the contracting authority responsibilities and also:  

1. To draw up the consulting files of the building companies.

2. To ensure the carrying out of the plans.

3. To accept the reception of works in the real conditions of management and exploitation.

    In the field of control and maintenance of the mobilization works and exploitation water resources transfer, the agency is assigned:

1. To ensure the supervision of the mobilization works in exploitation and, particularly, to carry out all the examination interventions and the technical control. 

2. To study or to make study and to develop the protection, the upkeep and the maintenance systems of the exploiting works and to conceive the emergency intervention plans in relation with the concerned organisms.

3. To recommend the achievement of all works of maintenance, upkeep and repair and to follow the works of large repairs.
